DY-552 become more and more important in paint field for it meets the issue of environmental protection.

1. Property: Appearance: white or pale powder

Volatile: ≤ 1.5%

OH-Equi.: 82± 2g/eg

Melting range: 124-129°C (by GB9284)

2. Application: DY-552 is a curing agent suitable for the production of outdoor-used polyester coatings.It has the characteristics of low toxicity, no irritant to skin and goodweather durability. Thus it is a good alternative of TGIC.

The chemical structure of DY-552 is a-hydroyxyalklamide.DY-552 can be cured with carboxylic polyester. The acid value ranges form 25-45 mgkOH/g. In order to minimize the yellowing, the appropriate resin should be preferredin formulation. A certain amount of a degassing additive is, however, generallyrecommended to prevent micro-pinholes due to the production of water in thecross-linking reaction. Typically cure schedules are required to develop fullcoating properties ranging from 5min at 200° C to 20min at 150° C, generally,15min at 180° C is preferred.

The reference formulation is shown in thefollowing:

PE: 600g

DY-552 (Dongyuan): 3.1g

DY-88 (Dongyuan): 10g

BENZOE (Dongyuan): 4g

R902 (TiO₂, Dupont): 350g

3. Material:

1) PE: AV 35mgKOH/g, such as P955 (DSM); CC7630 (UCB); P9337T (Sino-French)

2) DY-88: leveling agent, polyacrylate with silica carrier

3) Machine: PLK46 (Buss). The extruding temperature: 110-120°C

4) Baking condition: 180/15min

5) Film thickness: 50-100μm4.
